DESCRIPTION:The world is going mobile. Android has surpassed its counterpar
ts and become the most popular operating system all over the world. The op
enness and fast evolution of Android are the key factors that lead to its
rapid growth. However\, these characteristics have also created the notori
ous problem: Android fragmentation. There are numerous different Android d
evice models and operating system versions in use\, making it difficult fo
r app developers to exhaustively test their apps on these devices. An Andr
oid app can behave differently on different device models\, inducing vario
us compatibility issues that reduce software reliability. Such fragmentati
on-induced compatibility issues (compatibility issues for short) have been
well-recognized as a prominent problem in Android app development. In thi
s talk\, Professor Lili Wei will introduce the problem of Android compatib
ility issues\, review the past efforts to address Android compatibility is
sues\, and discuss potential research opportunities surrounding Android co
mpatibility issues.\n\nRegister\n\nSpeaker\n\nLili Wei is an assistant pro
fessor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at 看片视频
University. Prior to joining 看片视频 University\, she received her Ph.D. de
gree and worked as a post-doctoral fellow at the Hong Kong University of S
cience and Technology. Her research interests lie in program analysis and
testing with a focus on mobile apps\, smart contracts and IoT software. He
r research outcomes were recognized by several awards\, including an ACM S
IGSOFT Distinguished Paper Award\, an ACM SIGSOFT Distinguished Artifact a
ward\, a Google PhD Fellowship and a Microsoft Research Asia PhD Fellowshi
p. She is also actively serving the software engineering research communit
y. She received a Distinguished Reviewer Award from ASE 2022. More informa
