Pivotal research in the past decade has demonstrated that caregivers can experience increased anxiety, psychological distress, fatigue, and social isolation, among other consequences (Sinha, 2013; Turcotte, 2013).
Thu, 09 Jan 2025 19:16:01 +0000 Rebecca Pimienta 1564 at /palliativecare Insight into the Practice of Spiritual Care /palliativecare/article/insight-practice-spiritual-care
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been curious about the ways that people understand themselves and their lives. When it came to choosing a profession, I knew that I wanted to explore possibilities of freedom from suffering and to provide some kind of direct, therapeutic care for people in crisis. Through my education and personal experience, I saw that a person’s capacity to think and feel deeply into their lives, with the help of cultural, religious and internal resources, could be profoundly freeing. When I heard about spiritual care, I felt like I had struck gold.
Thu, 09 Jan 2025 19:17:40 +0000 Emma Abman, MA, Spiritual Care Practitioner - MUHC 1565 at /palliativecare
