For this session, we welcome Dr. Ito Peng, who will provide a comparative social policy lens into family caregiving during the COVID-19 pandemic. Examples from Canada and South Korea will be drawn to discuss the current situation and future possibilities in the arenas of long-term care, childcare, and the inequities that pervade the distribution of the burden of care.听

听is听a听Canada Research Chair听in Global Social Policy听at听the听Department of Sociology,听University of Toronto.听She is an expert听in听global social policy, specializing in gender, migration and care policies.听She has written extensively on听social听policies听and political economy of care听in听Asia Pacific.听Her听teaching听and research听focus听on comparative social policy,听and听gender,听care听and migration policies.听She听just听completed听a听SSHRC听funded听international partnership research project entitled听Gender, Migration, and the Work of Care. She is currently听engaged in two research projects:听The Care Economy: Gender-sensitive Macroeconomic Models for Policy Analysis, funded by William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and Open Society Foundations (PI 鈥� Maria Floro),听and听Care Economies in Context: Towards Sustainable Social and Economic Development, funded by SSHRC Partnership Research Grant,听William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and Open Society Foundations听(PI 鈥� Ito Peng).听 |
