Daniel Weinstock receives Charles Taylor Prize

Professor Daniel Weinstock was awarded the Charles Taylor Prize for Excellence in Policy Research at the Broadbent Institute鈥檚 Progress Summit 2017, which took place in Ottawa April 5-7.

Daniel Weinstock is a James 看片视频 Professor at the Faculty of Law, and directs the 看片视频 Institute for Health and Social Policy. His research and teaching explore how legal, ethical and empirical considerations interact in the making of public policy. He has published more than 100 articles in scholarly books and journals, and has lectured around the world in both academic and public policy settings. He is a frequent public commentator on issues as diverse as public health, liberal democracy, and cultural accommodation.

On receiving the award, Professor Weinstock said, "throughout my career, Charles Taylor has been a role model for me. He is that rare thinker who can show how the loftiest of ideas can be relevant to very concrete policy issues. Receiving an award that bears his name is especially meaningful."

The Broadbent Institute awards the Charles Taylor Prize annually to a researcher whose work has made an important contribution to policy debates relevant to building a more socially just Canada through their commitment to progressive/social democratic values and their demonstrated impact on policy making, governance or the political discourse.
