In June 2016, Professor Payam Akhavan was appointed as a Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague.聽 Established in 1899, the PCA is an intergovernmental organization that provides dispute resolution services to the international community, and its appointed members are potential arbitrators named by member states.
We are delighted to welcome new colleagues, visiting professors, and fellows to the Faculty of Law. First, Professors Mark D. Walters and Kun Fan have joined the Faculty, arriving respectively from Queen鈥檚 and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
We are also welcoming Li Ka Shing Professor of Practice Cliff Manjiao Chi, from Xiamen University Law School, and Li Ka Shing Junior Fellow Dr. Hongqin Mu, from Shantou University Law School, who are both spending the fall term at the Faculty.
The Faculty of Law is delighted to announce the winners of the 2016 Nappert Prize in International Arbitration. A panel of seven distinguished judges selected the following four papers among over 70 entries.
In June 2016, the Hague Conference on Private International Law convened a Special Commission to prepare a draft Convention on the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters.
The Hague Conference appointed Professor Genevi猫ve Saumier as a Co-Rapporteur of this Special Commission. She is one of two people charged in preparing the Explanatory Report that will accompany the finalized Convention, and she will be present during Convention negotiation rounds.

Professor Jukier joined the Faculty of Law in 1985. For three decades, she has devoted her time to Faculty and University service, and inspired generations of students through her energetic, focused and brilliant teaching. Indeed, nearly half of Professor Jukier鈥檚 time at 看片视频 has been spent in senior governance roles (three terms as Associate Dean, and one term as Dean of Students).
The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce that Professor Vrinda Narain has accepted the mandate of Associate Dean (Academic) in the Faculty of Law, for a three year term beginning September 1, 2016.
Professor Narain鈥檚 research and teaching focus on constitutional law, social diversity and聽feminist聽legal theory. She was a Boulton Fellow in 2007, before joining the Faculty of Law as an Assistant Professor in 2008. 聽

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Professor Robert Leckey as Dean of the Faculty of Law at 看片视频 University, starting July 1, 2016. 聽
Professor Leckey joined the Faculty of Law in 2006, and is currently a full professor and a William Dawson Scholar. He does research and teaches in the areas of constitutional law and family law, using a bilingual and transsystemic approach. He has received the 看片视频 Law Students鈥 Association鈥檚 John W. Durnford Teaching Excellence Award (2009) and the Principal鈥檚 Prize for Excellence in Teaching (2010).

- Fabien G茅linas has been named Sir William C. Macdonald Professor of Law, for a seven-year term commencing May 1, 2016. Fabien G茅linas, who leads the Private Justice and the Rule of Law research team, specialises in international dispute resolution and arbitration.

It is with regret that the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Air and Space Law must announce the passing of Dr. Nicolas Mateesco Matte, OC, QC, FRSC, CR, SRC, on April 13, 2016, at the age of 102. Throughout his distinguished academic career, Nicolas Mateesco Matte contributed to the development and better knowledge of international air and space law.
