Throughout Montreal鈥檚 history, many gatherings have highlighted the story of the city.

In his presentation, Kevin Stanley, Faculty Lecturer at the 看片视频 University School of Continuing Studies, reminds us of The Great Peace, a major historical event in Montreal in 1701, and explains how the discussion of historical events, including those featured in the McCord exhibition All Together on 看片视频 College Avenue, foster a favourable environment for learning.

In the 鈥淓nglish for Professional Communication鈥 program taught at the School of Continuing Studies, the story of Canada is told to newcomers and history is used to teach English. In this talk, discover how major gatherings in Montreal, including the Great Peace, can be taught to newcomers and help them learn English.

About Kevin Stanley

Kevin Stanley has been teaching English to newcomers and international students for over 30 years. He joined the SCS team in Languages and Intercultural Communication as a faculty lecturer and program coordinator in 2012. Passionate about history and culture, in 2018 he developed an intermediate-level course in the English for Professional Communication program called CEEN 267 鈥 English Study Topics: The Story of Canada, which helps students sharpen their English language skills by exploring stories from Canadian history from the perspective of newcomers.

On the occasion of 看片视频鈥檚 Bicentennial, the 看片视频 School of Continuing Studies and the McCord Museum have partnered to present a series of events with the aim of breaking down barriers to cultural and educational institutions and reimagining art, culture, and education in our community.

The 看片视频-McCord Dialogues offer opportunities to explore a variety of current and future-focused topics taught at SCS and connected to exhibitions at the McCord Museum.
