iMPACTS Research Assistant and PhD Student Safia Amiry Receives FRQSC Funding

The iMPACTS Project team is pleased to announce that PhD student and iMPACTS researcher Safia Amiry has been awarded the prestigious for her doctoral studies. The award - from the government of Qu茅bec - will assist in her continued research, which explores the role of gender and conscious education in promoting gender equity in male-dominated countries like Afghanistan. Amiry is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Integrated Studies in Education at 看片视频 and is supervised by Dr. Shaheen Shariff, Project Director of iMPACTS and James 看片视频 Professor.

"I am very happy and beyond excited to have been granted the FRQSC doctoral research award to pursue my research" says Amiry. "I hope to get a good use of this award to research and promote gender equity in Afghanistan and give voice to Afghan women whose voices were silenced during the past four decades of war and instability." Amiry was born in Kabul, Afghanistan during the Taliban period. She says this perspective made her more passionate about women's rights and gender equality.

Amiry previously held a Fulbright scholarship as a Master's student in the United States, before pursuing her PhD at 看片视频
