A new French technology takes aim at drones

An Air Traffic Management article states that French airport operator Groupe ADP and DSNA Services are working together on a system designed to detect drones in areas where they shouldn鈥檛 be. The Hologarde system uses radio frequency, radar and high-definition video to detect drones within a distance of five kilometres.

A new networking company aims to get Quebec IoT-ready

By all accounts, the Internet of Things (IoT) is going to be the next major paradigm shift in online technology. Rather than being about information transfer between humans, the IoT is all about contact between smart devices, a sensor in a field speaking to an irrigation system without human intervention, for example. X-Telia is a Quebec company that is rolling out a new network specifically aimed at connecting those devices.

Women speak out on gender and comedy

Though today鈥檚 female comics are making breakthroughs, stand-up is still very much a men鈥檚 game. In a recent Le Devoir article, Louise Richer (EMBA鈥16), Director General of Quebec鈥檚 脡cole nationale de l鈥檋umour, points out that humour is seen by many women as an attractive feature in a man, but that the reverse is not often true.

Montreal hosts international humour conference

The seed of the International Society for Humor Studies was planted at a small meeting in Wales three decades ago. Today, the organization hosts a yearly conference, where serious scholarship about funny business gets discussed, and where outstanding graduate students in the field are recognized before their peers.

After a varied career, an EMBA alumna sets her sights on investment advising

Marie-Lou Dorval (EMBA鈥15) has done almost everything: She鈥檚 been a filmmaker, she鈥檚 been the president of an agricultural business, and she鈥檚 run a restaurant.

Since graduating from the 看片视频-HEC Montr茅al EMBA program, Ms. Dorval has changed her course completely, becoming an investment advisor at Raymond James Ltd 鈥 and it鈥檚 a job she doesn鈥檛 see herself leaving any time soon!

Every year, the 看片视频-HEC Montr茅al EMBA program offers a $50,000 scholarship for aboriginal managers. The first recipient of the scholarship was Mi鈥檏maq urban councillor Manon Jeanotte in 2014. Her EMBA experience prompted her to make a successful run for chief of the Gespeng Mik鈥檓aq Nation in 2015.

Company selected for this UbiMobility 2017 has 看片视频-HEC EMBA connection

UbiMobility is a program run by Bpifrance and Business France to give companies in the connected and autonomous car space a leg up in the United States. The program can boast several successes: Of the 16 startups from the 2015 and 2016 editions, 11 have opened US operations.

Among the 2017 startups, is CS Communications and Systems Canada, which is developing a software validation method for embedded systems that promises to reduce testing costs and speed up the process.
