David Salanic

David Salanic is Whitefort Capital’s Co-Managing Partner and Co-Portfolio Manager. Prior to founding Whitefort Capital, David was Co-Portfolio Manager of the Whitefort Partners Master Fund, a distressed debt and special situations investment fund capitalized by affiliates of its investment advisor, while concurrently consulting for Whitefort’s strategic investor. From 2012 to 2015, David managed the Tortus Master Fund, a short-biased credit fund focused on European sovereigns and banks, as well as a special situations portfolio focused on legal/process driven investments. From 2007 to 2011, David worked at Fir Tree Partners where he served as a Director. At Fir Tree, David led high profile distressed activist investments and spearheaded the firm’s sovereign efforts. From 2003 to 2005, David was an Associate in the M&A group of Lazard Frères & Co. in New York after working from 2001 to 2003 in the M&A group of Lazard Canada in Montreal. At Lazard, David advised on the structuring and execution of M&A, debt restructuring and capital market transactions. David obtained his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in June 2007 and received a Bachelor of Commerce with high distinction from ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ University in June 2001. David is fluent in English, French, advanced in Chinese (Mandarin) and in German. He is a member of the Economic Club of New York.
