Collaboration between Dr. 脠ve-Marie Quintin's BAND research group, Commission Scolaire des Draveurs, and musicians, is winner of Qu茅bec Prix 脌 Part Enti猫re award
A team involving the research group of听脠ve-Marie Quintin has been awarded first prize听at Qu茅bec's听Prix 脌 part enti猫re, in the category of Commissions scolaires et 茅tablissements d'enseignement de niveau primaire ou secondaire soutenant la r茅ussite 茅ducative听("School boards and education institutions, elementary or secondary schools, supporting educational success").听
The prize was awarded to the team headed by the Commission听scolaire des Draveurs鈥� team; the team also听included 听Dr. 脠ve-Marie Quintin's BAND research group, and the听community organization of musicians APPROSH-EducaTED. They received the award yesterday at Parliament in Qu茅bec City as part of the听Prix 脌 Part Enti猫re听annual ceremonies, on behalf of L鈥橭ffice Des Personnes Handicap茅es Du Qu茅bec (OPHQ).
Dr. 脠ve-Marie Quintin is director of the BAND (Behaviour, Autism, and NeuroDevelopment) research group,听composed of six graduate students and several undergraduate research assistants, and based out of the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at the Faculty of Education.听BAND's research looks at the trajectories of cognitive, socioemotional, and brain development throughout childhood and adolescence, specifically by focusing on music perception and cognition. The group听investigates typical development and听neurodevelopmental disorders, notably autism spectrum disorders and Fragile X syndrome.听
