Scope of work:

The work includes the installation of card readers, electrified door hardware, lockdown buttons and new electrical and data distribution for the following rooms:

  1. McConnell Engineering: classrooms 13, 204, and 304. Also includes work over the ceiling of classroom 011.
  2. Trottier: 0100, 1100, 1090, 1080.
  3. Wong: 1020. Also includes work over the ceiling of lab 0110.

Impact & mitigation:

  1. The classrooms will not be accessible during the work (no work will take place at the Wong and Trottier buildings during the Congress of the humanities and social sciences 2024).
  2. Demolition noise is expected, although this work will be done before regular building hours. Otherwise, minor drilling noise is expected.
  3. Work over the suspended ceiling through the corridors is expected for the electrical and data distribution. This work will be performed using temporary enclosures.

Asbestos-related work (McConnell Building only): The passing of electrical and data cables in ceilings of public corridors, from classrooms to electrical and IT rooms, will be executed under confinement conditions to avoid dispersion of dust.
