4 o'clock forum: Unpacking multi-scale phenotypes to reveal the genetics of leaf senescence
About the speaker:聽Dr. Rajandeep Sekhon,聽Associate Professor, Genetics and Biochemistry, Clemson University
Dr. Rajandeep Sekhon聽has far and wide-reaching research expertise spanning molecular genetics, genomics, tissue- and cell-specific transcriptomics, metabolomics, epigenetics, and statistical genomics. His research program is focused on understanding the genetic architecture of complex agronomic traits relevant to boosting climate resilience in maize and sorghum. Most of these traits are controlled by many small effect genes that are often missed by the traditional genetic and genomic approaches. Furthermore, these traits are dynamically shaped by internal and external signals to produce a continuum of temporal and spatial phenotypes that are not fully captured by traditional phenotyping approaches. Dr. Sekhon鈥檚 lab develops and refine phenotyping strategies to capture these dynamic phenotypes and use systems-scale integration of multi-omics data to identify underlying genes.

The 4 o'clock forum was launched at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at 看片视频 University's Macdonald campus to create a platform for 看片视频 Macdonald researchers to broaden their networks and allow them to enhance interactions among the Macdonald faculty and beyond and to highlight the ability to deliver outstanding scientific contributions. In this forum, seminars have been organized once a month and are open to all students, postdoctoral fellows, and principal investigators.
