MacShares Community Meal Prep: Cupcakes
Get a free meal by helping dietetics students prepare 200 meals for vulnerable families of the Ville St-Pierre area.
Dr. Ryan Mailloux, Director of 看片视频's School of Human Nutrition, is looking for 10 to 12 colleagues and students to join him on February 9 and give 2 hours of their time (between 11:00 and 13:00). You will do and decorate cupcakes, the dessert part of the Valentine鈥檚 Day thematic meal prepared for Lachine鈥檚 Community pediatrics Center located in the Ville Saint-Pierre area, one of the poorest on Montreal island. Its mission is to聽to support vulnerable children and families of this area to ensure their well鈥恇eing and optimal development.
Those who will have volunteered, they will get to experience this Valentine鈥檚 Day thematic meal, a heartwarming lasagna and, of course, cupcakes.聽
This entire operation has been planned, implemented and by Dietetics students as part of NUTR 345/346 courses.聽
Schedule
11:00鈥10:15: Introduction (CC-212)
11:15鈥12:45: Cooking dessert in the Food Lab (CC-215)
12:45: Volunteer lunch is served (CC-212)
About MacShares
MacShares is a team-building group activity in which Mac faculty, staff and students volunteer a couple of hours of their time to contribute to creating 100+ meals which are then served by local community organizations to people in need. The event is part of a management activity for students in the Dietetics program.
This February, MacShares is looking for volunteers for three events:
- Friday, February 2: Pudding Chomeur
- Monday, February 5: Cornbread
- Friday, February 9: Cupcakes
Volunteers must RSVP by one week before the event.

- 8% of Food Bank clients are seniors, a significant increase from 6.8% in 2019.
