Dominique µþé°ù³Ü²úé awarded King Charles III Coronation Medal
¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ’s Vice-President of Research and Innovation recognized for transformative leadership in Canadian research
On December 7, Professor Dominique µþé°ù³Ü²úé, Vice-President, Research and Innovation (Faculty of Engineering) was awarded the at a ceremony presided over by the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, the Honourable Manon Jeannotte.Ìý
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada or to a particular province, territory, region or community of Canada, or have made an outstanding achievement abroad that brings credit to the country.ÌýÌý
Dominique µþé°ù³Ü²úé was recognized for her transformative impact on research evaluation and funding in Canada, and for leading efforts to break down systemic barriers and foster inclusive practices.Ìý
As Vice-President of Research at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) from 2015 to 2021, she led groundbreaking initiatives integrating equity, diversity, and inclusion principles into research funding and evaluation. She also advanced the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 65 by partnering with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation and guiding SSHRC’s Indigenous Advisory Circle.ÌýÌý
Before joining ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ in July 2024, µþé°ù³Ü²úé served as Vice-President of Research and Graduate Studies at Concordia University, playing a pivotal role in securing significant research investments from the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) and the New Frontiers in Research Fund (NFRF).Ìý She also previously served as associate vice-president of Research at Université de Montréal (UdeM).ÌýÌý
A member of the Ordre des ¾±²Ô²µÃ©²Ô¾±±ð³Ü°ù²õ du Québec, µþé°ù³Ü²úé holds a PhD in environmental sciences from the Université du Québec à Montréal, as well as bachelor's and master's degrees from École Polytechnique de Montréal in the field of metallurgical and materials science.Ìý
One hundred and forty citizens from Greater Montreal were named recipients of the King Charles III Coronation Medal at the December 7 ceremony.Ìý
