Current research:

Using high-throughput genomics to identify novel genetic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the management and treatment of esophageal cancer and peritoneal metastases.
Developing and Implementing novel computational approaches to decipher the role of regulatory mutations in esophageal cancers and associated metastases.
Using genomics and bioinformatics to interpret the impact of structural variants on the chromatin landscape and how regulatory elements are repurposed in cancer 鈥 鈥渆nhancer hijacking鈥.

Areas of interest:

The overarching goal of my research program is to improve the survival of patients with cancers of the stomach and esophagus. We are focused on understanding the role of somatic alterations and changes to chromatin landscape in chemoresistance and metastasis. In addition, we are developing bioinformatic approaches to interpret the function of non-coding genomic alterations in cancer initiation and progression.
