Economics (Faculty of Arts)

Overview

How do societies decide what to produce, and how much of it? What determines prices, exchange rates, interest rates and levels of inflation? As an Economics student, you will explore the answers to these questions. You’ll gain an understanding of how economies function internally and on a global scale, what drives consumers, and how public policy and global events affect markets.

¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ’s Major in Economics offers a flexible curriculum where you can follow your interests – whether that’s economic history and development, environmental economics, international trade and finance, labour economics, money and banking or public finance.

The Honours program in Economics is a challenging program that allows you to explore your interests while building strong mathematical skills. Pursuing a Minor in Economics is a great way to complement studies in other fields like international development and political science.

Careers

Although careers in business and finance are common with a background in economics, you can also find a future in law, government, non-profits, international relations, academia, and more. You will gain important transferable skills in analysis and problem-solving that open doors to many careers after graduation.
