Congratulations to Dr. Susan Greenwald, DDS ’86, for being awarded the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education! The award is given annually to a deserving teacher selected by fourth year dental students. “I am extremely humbled and honoured to have received this award,” says Dr. Greenwald. “I get just as much out of my time teaching the students as they get from me. The experience is very rewarding on many different levels.” Dr. Greenwald began teaching in the Undergraduate Teaching Clinic 5 years ago. Her dad, also a ƬƵ dentistry grad, had taught in the clinic for years and inspired her to do the same. “After finishing dental school my colleagues often told me of the positive impact that my dad had on them. ” remembers Dr. Greenwald. “I love the experience of helping students learn and I hope that I can make a lasting impression on them. It can be easy for a student to lose perspective and get overwhelmed. I hope that I help them see the value of their education and provide comprehensive patient based care.” Dr. Greenwald enjoys working in the clinic and being recognised by the students for her dedication is an added bonus. “I really am touched to be given this award." Dr. Greenwald will be presented with the award at the Convocation Luncheon on May 30th.
