Biography:

Dr. Lucienne Tritten is an Assistant Professor at ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ University’s Institute of Parasitology (FAES). After earning her BSc in Biology from the University of Neuchâtel (CH), she pursued an MSc in Infection Biology, followed by a PhD in Microbiology at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and the University of Basel (CH), where she developed a passion for helminth (worm) parasites and the survival strategies they employ within their hosts. She specialized further at ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ University (2012–2015), the University of Zurich (CH, 2015–2023), and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (2022–2023). Her research focuses on the molecular crosstalk between parasitic helminths and their mammalian hosts, particularly the roles of helminth nucleic acids and extracellular vesicles (EVs) in host immunomodulation. Her goal is to determine how EVs released by helminths, hosts, and the bacterial microbiota shape infection outcomes and can be harnessed for developing novel anthelmintics.
