What is Digital Humanities?
Digital Humanities (DH) is a rapidly growing field that capitalizes on advances in computation and digital technology to bring new perspectives to humanistic topics. Digital Humanities brings wide-ranging fields of inquiry together under a broad methodological domain for the digital study of cultural phenomena and promotes critical reflection on the effects that computational methods have on scholarship. As society鈥檚 relationship with the digital landscape continues to evolve, DH researchers at 看片视频 are pioneering methodologies, developing digital tools, and setting the pace for DH scholarship.
What is the Ad Hoc MA program in DH?
The Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at 看片视频 University offers a 2-year, thesis-based MA degree in Digital Humanities. The reason we call it "Ad hoc" is because of its flexible, interdisciplinary curriculum which allows students to take courses across faculties, departments, and disciplines to support their DH research objectives. Students in this program examine the theoretical and practical foundations for working in Digital Humanities, discussing core research questions, and receiving supervised training in requisite skills, such as coding, text mining, visual mapping, web analytics, and critical data analysis.
Please direct all questions concerning the program of study to the Graduate Program Director, andrew.piper [at] mcgill.ca (Prof. Andrew Piper).
