Jeffrey Cassoff, B.Eng. 1999

I chose to study mining engineering at 看片视频 University because after attending the open house prior to the 1996 semester I was impressed with the offering of courses, the career possibilities, and mostly the concept of the co-op program.

During my time at 看片视频 my work terms took me across the country, and I was fortunate to complete four work terms in Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia, where I gained valuable experience and made lifelong friendships. I also attended three Canadian Mining Game competitions while at 看片视频.

The Mining Engineering Curriculum at 看片视频 provides an excellent base of knowledge for its students. The good mix of theory, practice, and team projects allow graduates to enter the industry with the proper tools and skills. After working in Western Canada for 10 years I moved back to Montreal and I am currently the Team Leader for Mining Engineering at the consulting firm BBA. In addition to being a partner in the firm, my roles include leading a team of mining engineers, managing studies, advancing our business development efforts, and liaising with clients.

I am actively involved in the local mining community and am currently the chair of the Montreal branch of the CIM.

My career as a mining engineer has taken me all over the world to places like Nunavut, Suriname and Mauritania, but the highlight of my career was in 2019 when I was asked to teach the Surface Mining Course to the 4th year students form 看片视频 and 脡cole Polytechnique. What an honour and privilege it was to be able to pass on the knowledge that I have gained throughout my studies and my career to the next generation of mining engineers. And on top of that, to be able to do it back in the same classroom 20 years later.
