What is electroencephalogram (EEG)?
It is a test that detects electrical activity in your brain using small, metal discs (electrodes) attached to your scalp. Your brain cells communicate via electrical impulses and are active all the time, even when you're asleep. This activity shows up as wavy lines on an EEG recording.

Services Offered:

  • EEG (Routine, sleep, long-term monitoring)
  • Long-term video-EEG monitoring for pre-surgical investigation or medications adjustment
  • Long-term supervision

How to request a consultation:

  • The referral must be made by a physician and must specify the type of examination required.Ìý
  • By appointment only.

EMG
(Electromyography)

Room 365

Phone: 514-398-1919

What is Electromyography (EMG)?
It is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). EMG results can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction or problems with nerve-to-muscle signal transmission.

Services Offered:

  • evoked potentials (somatosensory evoked potentials, visual evoked potential, analysis of auditory evoked potentials)

All patients referred for EMG are evaluated by a neurologist before the exam.

How to request a consultation:

  • If your referral is coming from a family doctor or general practitioner, your doctor has to send the referral to ÌýCRDS (Centre de répartition des demandes de services montréalais).
  • If your referral is coming directly from a specialist, then you can simply fax it to the EMG department at 514-398-1285. Please make sure to include your full contact information and your medical history. If you have any questions or need further information, you can call the EMG department at 514-398-1919.Ìý
