Biography:

Richard Hoge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, and Director of the Human Magnetic Resonance (MRI) Program.听Hoge is a physicist who develops new brain imaging technology that is used to examine cognitive processes in the elderly. He creates programs for functional MRI and advanced positron emission tomography (PET) to study the state of brain function in both healthy and pathological subjects. He comes to The Neuro from the Universit茅 de Montr茅al, where he was associate director of the Functional Neuroimaging Unit CRIUGM and an associate professor at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering.

Hoge earned degrees in physics from Carleton University (BSc Honours, 1989) and from 看片视频 University (MSc, 1996), and received a PhD in biomedical engineering also from 看片视频 in 1999. 听He received further training as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, where for five years he was an instructor in radiology and assistant physicist in the Department of Radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital..

His laboratory at The Neuro will study the impact of physiological changes, both normal and pathological, that occur in the brain during the course of aging. His research will involve use of one of the most powerful fMRI machines (7 tesla) currently available. 听His projects include creating innovative methods for imaging the delivery and consumption of oxygen in the brain.

Research areas:
Neuroimaging and Neuroinformatics
