Arts OASIS provides online and in-person advising by appointment ONLY.ÌýEither make an advising appointment OR send us a message via the OASIS Service Portal; do not contact our office via multiple means of communication for the same issue. Sending duplicate Service Desk tickets will not result in a quicker response time.

Students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts: you are expected to be aware of the Faculty regulations as stated in eCalendar and on the ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ, Arts, and OASIS websites. While departmental and faculty advisers and staff are always available to give advice and guidance, the ultimate responsibility rests with youÌýfor such things as: completeness and correctness of your course selection and registration; for compliance with, and completion of, program and degree requirements; and for the observance of regulations and deadlines. It is your responsibility to seek guidance from the Office of Advising and Student Information Services (OASIS) if in any doubt; misunderstanding or misapprehension will not be accepted as cause for dispensation from any regulation, deadline, program, or degree requirement.

OASIS Mission

The mission of the Faculty of Arts Office of Advising and Student Information Services (OASIS) is to ensure the integrity and coherence of the Arts undergraduate degree, and to provide advice and support to our students regarding their academic trajectory, from entry to graduation. We do so valuing principles of fairness, accessibility, respect, engagement, confidentiality and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Meeting with an Advisor

Booking an Advising appointment:

  • The Arts OASIS booking page is updated daily with and appointments. Allow the calendar a moment to load the appointments. Appointments are released daily or weekly (ie. not a month in advance)
  • Book your appointment with your assigned advisor (if known; the name of your advisor may be listed at the top of your transcript).
  • Book a single appointment; follow-up appointments are available if necessary.
  • Cancel or reschedule your appointment if you are unable to attend the scheduled meeting, so as toÌýliberate the time for another student.
  • Online appointments:
    • Book using your ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ email account so as to receive a confirmation email with the link to the online appointment
    • Appointments will be via MS Teams

Attending your appointment:

  • Be prepared! Research our website and/or the program calendar and prepare your list of questions.
  • Be punctual.
  • Ensure your are functioning correctly.
  • Take notes.
  • Respect the duration of your appointment; if necessary, a follow-up meeting can be scheduled.
  • Your appointment is one-on-one with an advisor; parental / third-party participation is discouraged.
  • Your file is confidential; advisors cannot discuss the details of your situation with a parent / third party present.
  • The discussion and exchange of information is solely between you and your advisor.
  • Should you permit a parent / third party to remain in your meeting, they may attend as a silent participant only.
