Federal and Provinicial fellowships are available to Canadians and permanent residents. Application deadlines are usually in early fall. Incoming students should apply the year before beginning graduate study.

University Support


Department of Psychology.ÌýStudents who enter the program without external support are typically supported by the Department through teaching assistantships or some other arrangement.Ìý

¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ Various scholarships are available from the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies office. Some of these are reserved for non-Canadian applicants.Ìý

Fellowships


Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). Ìýare awarded to Canadian citizens or permanent residents residing in Canada. These awards are mainly for students in experimental psychology. Information and application forms are available online, as well as through psychology departments or fellowship offices at Canadian universities. The deadline for applications is usually early in the fall semester one the year prior to beginning graduate studies.


Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). SSHRC offers to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who are already enrolled in or have completed at least 1 year of graduate studies. These awards support students in social, developmental, personality and clinical psychology, and psycholinguistics. Application forms are available online, as well as through the psychology departments or fellowships offices at Canadian Universities.ÌýThe deadline for applications is usually early in the fall semester one the year prior to beginning graduate studies.


CIHR CGS (Canadian Institutes of Health Research) Master's Awards –

Awarded to Canadian citizens or a permanent residents of Canada. Be enrolled in, have applied for, or will apply for full-time admission*Ìýto an eligible graduate program at the master’s or doctoral level at a Canadian institution with a CGS M allocation.Ìý*Note: Applicants who are not currently enrolled in their intended graduate program must submit an application by for admission at ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ UniversityÌýby the deadline set for their intended graduate program; Psychology admission application deadline, December 1st.


Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). are awarded to students who have completed at least 12 months of a graduate program in health-related fields, including some areas of psychology. Application forms are available online, as well as through psychology departments or fellowships offices at Canadian Universities.ÌýThe deadline for applications is usually early in the fall semester one the year prior to beginning graduate studies.


Provincial Government Scholarships. Most provincial governments in Canada provide postgraduate scholarships for full support to current residents of their province. Information can be obtained through the internet, your psychology department or from the Department of Education in your provincial capital. In Quebec, (Natural Sciences and Engineering),Ìý (Social Sciences and Humanities and Arts), and (Health Sciences).ÌýThe applications are typically sent to the agency directly. Please check with the agency for current deadlines.
