Staff parking permits

Staff Downtown Campus Permits

Employees who had parking permits prior to March 2020 (pre-COVID)

If you are an employee who had a permit before the March 2020 shutdown and would like to resume parking, please fill out the parking eligibility form. If you had an authorization for proximity parking from Human Resources (HR) and it has expired, please. Proximity parking will not be issued without this authorization.

Annual permits

Permanent staff members authorized for permits can pay for parking at the annual monthly rate(click on the rates tab) through deductions from their bi-weekly paychecks. Annual permits are continual (cannot be stopped and started for vacations and holidays) and they are automatically renewed unless notice of cancellation or suspension is given. Parking cannot be cancelled or suspended retro-actively. To apply for an annual permit please visit the “How to purchase a permit” section below.

Temporary permits

Employees authorized for permits may purchase temporary parking permits issued on a weekly or monthly basis at the monthly and weekly rates(click on the rates tab). Monthly permits are sold by calendar month, with a maximum purchase of 3 months at one time. Weekly permits are issued for a period of seven consecutive days from the start date.


Temporary permits cannot be post-dated or issued prior to the start date. They can be paid for by cheque, debit or credit card. To apply for a temporary permit please visit the “How to purchase a permit section.

Day Passes

Employees authorized for permits and who are working 3 days or less will have the option to purchase day passes for certain locations depending on availability. They can be purchased for $21.50 each or 6 for $104. Purchase of day passes will be limited to 30 at a time within a 2-month period. Should more than 12 day passes per month be required, a temporary permit should be considered as, with the exception of an All Areas pass, it will cost less.

Proximity Parking for Staff Members

Staff members who have a disability, medical condition, or temporary injury and require proximity parking may be able to obtain a permit or day passes for a parking area near their workplace.

Those with the may contact Parking and Transportation Services immediately to obtain a parking permit or day passes.

Those who do not have the SAAQ permit for parking in spaces designated for persons with disabilities must visit the Parking for Staff with Disabilities & Adapted Transport Service to apply for a proximity parking permit or day passes.

The purchase of day passes will be limited to 30 at a time within a 2-month period and they will not be sold within 30 days of the expiry date of the authorization period, unless an exception is made by the manager of Parking & Transportation Services. Should more than 12 day passes per month be required, a temporary permit should be considered as, with the exception of an All Areas pass, it will cost less.

How to purchase a permit

Eligibility

The number of spaces on the downtown campus is limited.
To be eligible to purchase a parking permit, you must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

  • You live at least 2km away from the metro station closest to your home.
  • You have at least one child under the age of 5 registered in a daycare centre.
  • You are pregnant.

Exceptions may be made for extenuating circumstances. These exceptions are at the discretion of the manager of Parking and Transportation Services.

Location

Location choices will depend on availability at the time of applying. Once you apply you will be sent an email confirming your approval and your location options. Due to a high volume of emails, it can take several days before you will receive a response. We do not have a waiting list for preferred locations. If space becomes available in another location, choice will be given to permit holders based on seniority.

How to Apply

To apply for a parking permit, please complete the parking eligibility form. Parking services will contact you to confirm approval and location choices. Due to a high volume of emails, we will respond to your request as quickly as possible but there may be a delay of several days.
