The University covers the transportation costs for a new staff member and their immediate family from their current residence at the time of appointment to a new residence in Montreal. The following options are available:
Air travel
The relocation will cover the cost of a one-way economy airfare for the most direct route from the current residence to Montreal and one piece of checked-in luggage per person. The staff member may book their own flight(s) directly and be reimbursed by the University upon arrival, however prior approval of the Relocation Administrator is required. Transportation costs to and from the airport (e.g., taxi, bus, Uber, but excluding limo service) are reimbursable under this service, with original paid receipts.
Car
Payment will be made per mile or kilometer for travel by the most direct route, from you current residence at the time of appointment to Montreal.聽If a car is rented to travel to Montreal, the costs of car rental and gas will be reimbursed, in accordance with the University policy. In all cases, when the total cost of travelling by personal car or rented car, exceeds the cost of travel by plane, including hotel(s) en route, the equivalent of the cost of ticket(s) will be reimbursed.
Train and all other forms of transportation
A one-way economy train ticket聽for the most direct route from the current residence to Montreal and one piece of checked luggage per person will be covered. The staff member may book their own train ride directly and be reimbursed by the University upon arrival, please retain your original receipt(s) for reimbursement. The Relocation Administrator can book the train ticket(s) through the University鈥檚 travel agent. Transportation costs to and from the train stations (e.g., taxi, bus, Uber) are reimbursable under this service, with original paid receipts.
