Grades are posted 2 to 4 weeks after the official exam period. You will find your grades on Minerva, by viewing your unofficial transcript.
Your official grade in each course is the letter grade. Where appropriate, class averages will also be shown on transcripts, in the form of a letter grade.
Letter grades are defined as follows:
Undergraduate Courses
- Grades A through C: Satisfactory Pass
- Grade D: Conditional (non-continuation) Pass
- Grade F: Failure
Graduate Courses
- Grades A through B-: Satisfactory Pass
- Grade F: Failure
You must have a minimum grade of “C” in prerequisite courses to register for the next course, except if you have written permission from the appropriate department chair. A grade of “D” will not be recognized if the course is a compulsory course for your program.
Some programs have further requirements. You can refer to the information provided for your program.

Standing in a department will be determined by your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). This is the GPA calculated using your entire record of applicable courses at ƬƵ at the same level. If you change levels (e.g., from undergraduate to graduate) the CGPA starts again.
Your CGPA is calculated by dividing the sum of the course credit, times the grade points by the total course GPA credits. The result is not rounded up to the nearest decimal point. GPA credits are the credits of courses with grades that are assigned grade points.
CGPA = |
∑ (course credit x grade points) |
A grade of “D” or “F” will always be included in your CGPA, even after you have retaken the course or done a supplemental exam.
Grades of “J” and “KF” count as 0 in the CGPA; a grade of “W,” “WF,” “WL,” or “KK” is excluded.
