Program/academic advising is a collaborative effort between students and advisors designed to help students meet their academic goals and achieve success. The program/academic advisors are part of your Career & Transition Management team, helping you navigate the policies of the School of Continuing Studies and the wider ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ community and connecting you with on-campus resources that empower you to make the most of your ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ experience.

Some of the services offered by program/academic advisors include:

  • Guiding your course selections to make sure you meet the requirements of your program
  • Offering guidance in planning your credit load and upcoming deadlines
  • Helping you manage your academic situation during periods of personal, financial, or medical difficulty
  • Providing information about rules, regulations and requirements governing specific programs and/or courses
  • Preparation and revision of International Student Study Plans
  • Serve as a direct link to other University resources

Meet with a Program/Academic Advisor

Before booking an appointment with a program advisor, we encourage you to consult the School of Continuing Studies website for more general information, such as, admission deadlines, areas of study, and for general registration. For more complex questions about programs or course requirements, scheduling or academic regulations or any of the items listed above please schedule an appointment to speak to a program advisor.Ìý

  • Virtual appointments (Monday – Friday)
  • In-person appointments (Tuesday – Thursday)

If you need to speak with a program advisor urgently, we still recommend booking an appointment before coming in-person.

Our program/academic advisors are also available by email. Send your requests and questions to program.advising.scs [at] mcgill.ca. Your request will be answered within 3 – 5 business days (during non-peak periods).

Please note that while advisors and staff can provide guidance with your program selection and general academic support, it remains your responsibility to ensure:

  • The completeness and accuracy of your course selection and registration
  • Compliance with the program and course requirements
  • Observance of the regulations and deadlines
