Candidates for this highly competitive program are dentists who hold a DMD/DDS or BDS degree with an outstanding academic background, alone or in combination with additional clinical or research training. The program welcomes both Canadian and international students. We actively embrace diversity, and we encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.

All applicants must also apply to the Master’s in Dental Sciences (Thesis) program, as you will be completing the MSc Thesis in conjunction with the Graduate Diploma in Oral Medicine. Both programs must be completed successfully for the diploma to be awarded and to graduate.

As per the , accepted candidates must participate in research related to the speciality of Oral Medicine and Pathology, either in a clinical or laboratory research topic as both an investigator and author. The resident must be able to write a scholarly paper to a standard that is suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

Once accepted to the program, candidates must satisfy the requirements of the for registration. Internationally trained dentists accepted to the program, other than graduates trained in the United States, must satisfy the requirements of the ODQ to obtain a restricted license.

Applicants are required to use the document upload feature when submitting their application. Do not mail or fax a copy of the documents that you have already uploaded to your application, as doing so will slow down the review of your application.

1. Official transcripts of all previous university education

Applicants must upload a copy of their unofficial transcript during application submission.

Our ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ Office reserves the right to require official academic records at any time during the admissions process and rescind any offer of admission if discrepancies between unofficial and official record(s) are found. Official transcripts sent to ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ University become the property of the University and will not be returned or forwarded to other institutions.

2. A minimum of three reference reports or letters

  • One from the Dean of your Dental Medicine school.
    If you are a ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ DMD student or ¿´Æ¬ÊÓƵ DMD graduate, please fill out this form for the Dean's reference letter.  
  • Two letters from a healthcare professional or academic that you have worked with, of which one must be from a dental medicine professional who is familiar with your academic ability.

When completing your application, you will be asked to submit your referees’ email addresses. The referees will receive an automated email asking them to upload their letter. 

3. Your CV (training, clinical and research experience, publication and lecture list, continuing education participation, community service)

4. Letter of intent / personal statement

5. Proof of sponsorship, if applicable

6. Proof of English language proficiency

7. Optional: proof of French language proficiency. French language proficiency is an asset as clinical training takes place in a bilingual environment.

Personal emails, reference letters or emails of influence must not be sent to the Dean, Chair or Members of the Admission Committee before or during the selection process. This type of solicitation is highly discouraged. It will not increase the chances of success, and it will be documented in the applicant’s dossier.
