In education, accreditation is a聽process by which programs engage in rigorous, cyclical evaluation of their compliance with provincially and/or nationally-accepted standards.聽The purpose of accreditation is to ensure and聽improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of a program.
Accreditation standards, cycles, and procedures聽are聽program-specific. In each case, programs are聽responsible聽for completing and submitting a self-study document to their聽accrediting body and undergoing an onsite visit by a survey team.聽 Accreditation ensures that the Faculty of Medicine's medical education and health professional programs聽maintain their educational quality聽and excellence.
