Theresa Beesley, PhD, CE, is a Credentialed Evaluator with the Canadian Evaluation Society and the Program Evaluation Medical Education Lead for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She specializes in designing and implementing practical, theory-informed quality improvement and evaluation projects to address the complexities of educational systems for medical education programs, academic institutions, and accreditation standards.
Theresa collaborates closely with program leaders and School of Medicine leadership to develop and execute Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives and evaluation strategies. Her work focuses on generating actionable insights to drive continuous improvement across individual programs and institution-wide efforts in Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Continuing Professional Development.
Passionate about advancing the field of program evaluation, Theresa鈥檚 interests include adapting complex theories into practical tools to address challenges in educational environments. She focuses on understanding and addressing issues related to the learning environment, the hidden curriculum, and unintended consequences, while also leveraging big data for comprehensive evaluations.
Theresa earned her PhD in Kinesiology and Health Science from York University in Toronto, Ontario, and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Office of Health Science Education at Queen鈥檚 University, where she gained valuable experience transitioning to competency-based medical education.
Her work demonstrates a steadfast commitment to advancing medical education through thoughtful, inclusive evaluation practices that respond to the evolving needs of learners, educators, and communities.
